Business coaching & sparring for managers

Stuck between what leadership expects and what your team needs?

Verena Wahl

Work it through with someone who led teams for 15 years. Bring what's on your desk, and leave knowing what to do next.

Sound familiar?

It usually starts with one concrete situation, the one you're dealing with right now.

01

Leadership decided something you now have to sell to your team.

You're not fully convinced yourself, and your team will notice.

02

An important meeting with your boss is coming up, and you want to get it right.

Maybe it's about budget, protecting your team, or a decision you'd like to change, and you'd rather think it through beforehand.

03

Your team has questions about what's coming, and you don't have all the answers yet.

You want to talk to them, but between everything else going on, you haven't found the time, or the words.

04

New tasks keep landing on your plate that aren't your job.

Nobody backs you in saying no, and if it's a yes, something else has to give.

05

You've just been promoted over the people you used to work with.

Yesterday you were colleagues, now you lead them, and you want to find your footing in the new role.

Don't see yours? Most sessions start with “it's complicated”.
Bring it anyway.

Who you'd be talking to

I've led teams through exactly these moments.

I'm Verena. For almost 20 years I worked inside companies like Lidl, Kia, Just Eat Takeaway, Zenjob and Semrush, 15 of them leading teams in brand and marketing.

When layoffs were on the table, I made the case for my team. I've taken goals set at executive level and turned them into something we could work with. And after major reorganizations, I helped people through the questions and doubts that come with change.

Alongside my practical experience, I trained in systemic coaching and supervision at ISTB Berlin and in psychological safety with Amy Edmondson's The Fearless Organization, with further programs at Kaospilot and Hyper Island.

How we work

Every session starts from what you bring. Here's what you can expect.

1

Find the focus.

We agree on what would make our time together useful for you, even if you're not quite sure where to start.

2

Think it through.

Sometimes you need space to think. Sometimes you need a second opinion. We explore your options, challenge assumptions, and consider possible consequences. I'll ask questions and share my honest perspective when it helps.

3

Make it practical.

We bring it back to your actual situation. What could you do differently? What do you want to say, decide, or try next? The aim is to leave with greater clarity and something you can put into practice.

Some things can be worked through in one session. Others take more time. If it makes sense to continue, we'll decide together what the next steps could look like.

Questions people ask

Coaching or sparring: what's the difference?→

Sometimes you need someone to ask the right questions so you find your own answer. Sometimes you need someone who's been there to tell you what they'd do. I do both, and we decide together what helps.

Do we meet online or in person?→

Whichever you prefer: online by video (Google Meet), from wherever you are. Or in person in Berlin, if you'd rather sit across the table.

Do we work in English or German?→

Both work. Pick the language you think in when things get difficult.

Can my employer pay?→

Often, yes. Many companies have a learning or development budget you can use for this, or might offer you a dedicated coaching agreement. If your company doesn't cover it, work-related coaching can often be claimed as a work expense. Your tax advisor can confirm.

Will what I share stay confidential?→

Yes. What you tell me stays between us and is never shared with anyone.

How many sessions will I need?→

That depends on what you bring. For one specific question, one focused session is often enough. A bigger challenge usually takes a few sessions. And if you'd like to work on something over a longer period, we can meet regularly. We can always adjust as we go.

Is this therapy?→

No. We work on your situation at work. If something bigger comes up, I'll tell you and point you to the right kind of support.

What happens in the intro call?→

In 20 minutes you tell me what's going on, and we see together whether I can help and which format fits your situation.

What if I need to cancel?→

You can reschedule or cancel a session for free up to 24 hours before. Later cancellations are charged in full.
